Job Summary
Under the direction of senior management, oversees the development and execution of programs, policies, and activities within the organization that are established to benefit the employee/employer relationship. Coordinates program development, implementation, and evaluation of key HR initiatives to recruit, retain, and develop company personnel. Manages the liaison between associate and management to ensure fair and consistent treatment of associates in all aspects of employment. Facilitates grievance procedures. Provides counsel to management. Leverages key performance indicators (KPIs) to assist the business or function group to identify areas for continuous improvement. Supports the organization's overall business strategy through effective management of human resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborates with senior management to develop and secure short, medium and long-term vision, strategies and plans for regional human resources programs and ensures that they are both aligned with the organization’s overall business strategy and are legally compliant.
- Develops communications regarding and supports the vision and plans for assigned function(s) to customers (first level associates up through executive management).
- Develops, communicates and implements yearly goals and objectives with performance expectations for each function team and direct report, ensuring that they align with overall human resources and corporate strategies. Accountable for delivering results daily, weekly, annually, etc.
- Designs, implements and monitors a variety of human resource programs. Anticipates and plans for long term human resource needs and trends in partnership with business management.
- Acts as a change agent in managing organizational change. Maintains knowledge regarding the overall business unit(s) structure and overall organizational goals. Drives change strategy for department and sought out as thought leader.
- Ensures that company policies comply with all local, state and federal employment laws.
- Through subordinate management, directs personnel by developing performance expectations, assessing individual performance and training needs and planning for goal attainment. Assists direct reports in developing individual G&O’s and success measures, as well as providing coaching, support and assessment to talent.
- Directly and through subordinate management personnel, performs activities such as hire, promotion, termination and discipline recommendations; recommending and approving training for subordinates; completion of performance evaluations; approval of time off and other time and attendance activities; and other necessary action items.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in human resources, employee relations, organizational management or related field.
- 10 or more years of relevant experience, including 2 or more years of people management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- HR experience at a National or Global Corporation
- HR experience working at a location of > 3,000 employees
- 4+ years professional experience at an OEM or Automotive Supplier
- Experience managing 4+ direct reports
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong knowledge of U.S. employment laws and regulations at the federal, state and local level.
- Advanced analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to apply them in order to inspire/initiate new ideas, as well as to determine and develop strategies/processes often in the absence of guidelines or technical assistance.
- Evaluates and directs complex systems that foster innovative approaches to procedures/processes on a functional-wide basis focusing on critical strategic issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to persuade or influence internal and external customers on a wide range of subjects in situations which may be sensitive and/or lead to confrontation.
- Master at building relationships and garnering support from others; viewed as subject matter expert.
- Advanced public relations and listening skills are required in resolving precedent-setting and/or very complex issues and in negotiating maximum benefits for all parties.
- Excellent negotiation skills in order to lead high level issues that affect broad or multiple areas to resolution. Inspires trust in others. Serves as a role model in successful negotiation; uses influence in teaching others. Models win/win throughout the organization.
