PayPal, Inc. seeks Software Engineer 2 in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Develop high-volume, scalable software solutions for back-end systems. Optimize performance and scalability to efficiently manage significant data volumes and high traffic. Construct robust back-end services and RESTful APis. Leverage a powerful technology stack for both the development and deployment phases of an innovative solution. Ensure applications are accessible to all users by adhering to accessibility standards. Integrate new features based on user feedback and testing results. Partner with cross-functional teams, including design, product, and other business units. Continuously improve the product through iterative feedback and collaboration. Actively participate in Agile Scrum methodologies, collaborate on the creation and design of stateless libraries, and streamline HTTP/REST-based proxy-proxy standalone microservices. Build event sourced systems to orchestrate data between distributed systems. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus one year of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Experience designing and deploying relational database schemas and running complex queries against large scale databases (1 year).
2. Experience with cloud technologies, Amazon Web Services, infrastructure as code (terraform), and AWS offerings (1 year).
3. Experience writing production quality code Java and Python as well as experience with testing frameworks like Pytest.
4. Experience designing backend applications using the Django framework.
5. Experience deploying services using container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
6. Experience building and deploying Docker images.
7. Experience working in a team setting on a shared codebase using Git-based technologies like Github.
8. Experience monitoring applications using DataDog.
9. Experience designing and developing backend services for large scale applications.
10. Experience testing backend APIs using tools such as Postman or Curl.
11. Experience with Agile frameworks and practices for software development lifecycle.
