Description

Job Title:             Group Leader

SUMMARY  Under the supervision of the Area Manager, this position is responsible for leading people in the movement of materials through their designated areas. Responsible for instructing employees in safety, quality, productivity and efficiency standards.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety

  • Work in a safe manner at all times by following all safety guidelines.
  • Ensure safe work practices in the area by all personnel: shipping/receiving coordinators, welders, painters, assemblers, material handlers, inventory coordinators, and visitors.
  • Train employees on the proper safety practices and processes of proper PPE usage, equipment usage, and good housekeeping and organization.

Quality

  • Research equipment failure, design deviations, incorrectly made parts, and resolve problems to complete the process in a timely manner.
  • Test or assist in testing operation and shipment of completed product.
  • Ensure that quality policies and practices are followed by all personnel under their supervision.
  • Train employees on the proper quality practices and processes of weld standards, paint standards, and assembly standards.

Productivity

  • Communicate production schedules to area employees.
  • Set up all jobs utilizing jigs/fixtures according to Weiler blueprints and process sheets.
  • Monitor and adjust production plans for assembly, weld, or paint to meet production schedules.

Efficiency

  • Work towards improvement of daily goals of assigned work areas.
  • Follow up on projects as needed to ensure project dates are being met.
  • Assist the Area Manager in monitoring area performance through establish methods.

Leadership

  • Foster open communication from employees.
  • Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness and cooperation within a group.

SUPERVISORY REPONSIBILITIES  This job is responsible for overseeing a designated area/department. The Group Leader assists in oversight of a designated area when the Area Manager is absent

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED Required

3 – 5 years’ related experience in a manufacturing environment and/or additional related education required
