Adjunct Faculty – Graduate Statistics & Research Methodology

The Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene seeks an adjunct faculty member to deliver high quality learning experiences and education for students in the Master of Science Program. The selected candidate will have responsibilities teaching online courses to graduate students. Subject matters may include research methodology, statistical analysis, survey development and validation.

• Delivers instruction via online format) in the Master of Science in Dental Hygiene program
• Provides students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the School, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines and evaluation criteria.
• Provides engaging assignments that demonstrate the real-world applications of concepts covered.
• Uses the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students
• Advises and assists students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by videoconference, phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms
• Provides service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment
• Collaborates with graduate students and faculty throughout the research process including study design, data analysis, interpretation, and preparation for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
• Demonstrated ability to apply behavioral or social science research frameworks to guide study design, methodology, and interpretation of results, particularly within healthcare or educational settings.
• Proficiency using SPSS for data analysis, including the ability to teach and support graduate students in using the software.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

Required:

• Master’s or Doctoral degree in a related field (e.g., Biostatistics, Psychology, Public Health, Education, or other social/behavioral sciences).
• Minimum of 5 years of work experience in statistical analysis, survey development, and assisting with design of research methodology.
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at the college/university level with background in educational methodology as it relates development and teaching online coursework.
• Commitment to graduate education and student success.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents, including healthcare industry professionals).
• Strong applied knowledge of statistical concepts relevant to graduate research, including descriptive statistics, inferential tests, and regression analysis.
• Experience developing surveys and knowledge of core psychometric concepts such as reliability, validity, and item analysis.
• Previous scholarly activity evidenced through peer-reviewed publication.
