Steamboat Springs High School is seeking an Assistant Dance Coach (.5 FTE) to join the fall athletics/activities team.

Our schools offer curriculum and academic programs designed to give students the skills they need to compete in college and the workplace. SSSD's talented team prepares Steamboat's students to succeed in an ever-changing world, and be able to apply essential academic skills and knowledge in various content areas.
Season Dates: 8/10/25-01/31/26.
Pay Range: $ 1235.00 - $1,841.00, depending on experience. Stipend spread over season. Prorated based on FTE.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Hold a required parent/student/coach meeting at the beginning of each season. At that meeting, have written guidelines available for the parents and students that outlines your practices, attendance, participation policies and behavior expectations for your players/participants.
- Communicate effectively and regularly with the Athletic/Activities Director, student participants/team members, their parents and program coaches/sponsors so that expectations and procedures are clear.
- Follow and uphold all Steamboat Springs School District eligibility policies and procedures, maintain current CHSAA coaching registration, current first aide certification and successfully pass the CHSAA coaching test each school year.
- Always conduct yourself in an ethical and professional manner and promote to the team/group members a healthy lifestyle with respect to use/abuse of drugs, alcohol, tobacco and steroids.
- Operate with the understanding and requirement that you are the supervising adult for all activities participation at the school and will remain so from the time the team/group leaves the school until all students have been picked up by their parents upon return of the team/group.
- Take ownership for the care and security of program equipment. Follow the equipment check-out procedures and account for all student use and collection of, inventory of and proper storage of all equipment within two weeks of the end of the season.
- Hold an end-of-season awards ceremony to recognize the hard work of the students such as lettering, league and state awards and special accomplishments. Also, use the occasion as a way of thanking your other coaches/sponsors and parents for their assistance during the season/activity period.
- Attend all scheduled practices (min. 3 days a week Tues-Thur)
- Attend home Football and Basketball Games
- Looking for someone who has strong organizational and leadership skills
- Willing to lead parent, booster rep, officers and coaching volunteers during fundraisers and community events.
- Comfortable leading verbal and dance instruction to students
- Represent and advocate for Steamboat Springs School District schools and your activity by attending appropriate league, regional and state meetings, as well as clinics and professional development opportunities.
- Coach/Sponsorship stipends will be made as outlined in your contract. The final stipend will be paid when Item #10 on your contract is completed along with a follow up meeting held with the Athletic/Activities Director to complete the Coach/Sponsor Evaluation. Payment may be delayed if the above requirements are not met.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to maintain discipline with large groups of students.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with students, staff, co-workers, administrators and parents.
- Physically able to perform the following on a daily basis:
- ability to lift items weighing 50 pounds from floor level to an elevation of four feet
- ability to stand for long periods of time, withstand frequent pushing, pulling, squatting and reaching
- ability to withstand exposure to the outdoor elements including extreme cold, extreme hot, rain, snow and other mountain climatic conditions
- Possess sufficient manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to perform responsibilities as described.
