Electronics Engineering Technician - OCU - Technical - 1st Shift

<p>We are looking for a talented <strong>Cross-functional Engineering Associate</strong> to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Columbus, IN.</p><p><strong>In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: </strong></p><ul><li>Independently builds and debugs new analog and digital circuit designs.  </li><li>Analyzes and repairs circuit boards, including fine pitch.  </li><li>Troubleshoots circuits of moderate to advanced complexity.  </li><li>Performs tests on circuit design using approved test equipment and test setups.  </li><li>Builds wiring assemblies and supports mechanical assemblies to house electronic circuits-flex-tester, load boxes, life test, racks, etc.  Uses advanced electronics diagnostics and test equipment such as logic analyzers, probes, and digital oscilloscopes.\ Reports on test results.  </li><li>Understands and applies appropriate company and department rules and guidelines to work.  </li><li>Works with and train apprentices and technicians.  </li><li>Interfaces with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions.  </li><li>Coordinates programs including planning, scheduling, ordering, and tracking.  Participates in the maintenance of quality procedures.  </li><li>Leads and participates in improvement projects.  </li><li>Develops and gives presentations to customers and suppliers.  </li><li>Knows and complies with departmental and company safety policies and procedures.  </li><li>Demonstrates confidentiality as required.  </li><li>Participates in self- and team-audits and associated corrective action.  </li><li>Performs other miscellaneous duties, as required, to get the job done.</li></ul> <p><strong>To be successful in this role you will need the following: </strong></p><ul><li>Data Acquisition - Prepares samples, verifies equipment calibration and performs tests according to an approved standard procedure or work instruction in a manner which ensures, and results in, data that can be trusted and delivered to the engineer or customer.</li><li>Data Reporting - Prepares documentation in a manner which clearly organizes and presents testing methods, instrument settings, the data and analysis to allow the engineer and customer to understand the results and form accurate conclusions and recommendations.</li><li>Product Problem Solving - Solves product problems using a process that protects the customer; determines the assignable cause; implements robust, data-based solutions; and identifies the systemic root causes and recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence. </li><li>Product Software Design and Construction - Constructs product software using industry best practices and robust software engineering principles; verifies software updates to ensure quality products.</li><li>Collaborates - Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.</li><li>Communicates effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.</li><li>Customer focus - Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions.</li><li>Decision quality - Making good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.</li><li>Self-development - Actively seeking new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development channels.</li><li>Values differences - Recognizing the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to an organization. </li></ul><p><br/><strong>Education, Licenses, Certifications: </strong><br/>High school diploma, GED or equivalent required with Department of Labor Certification OR  </p><p>Associates degree from an accredited program in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience OR Bachelors degree in a related field.  <br/><br/><strong>Experience: </strong><br/>Department of Labor Certification OR four year experience/education requirement accomplished through either Bachelors degree in related field OR associates degree in related field and at least two years of relevant experience.</p> <p>This position will split their time between the Battery Cell Technology (BCT) and Power Electronics Laboratories (PEL).</p><p>In addition to the key responsibilities above, this position will be expected to operate and maintain equipment in both labs.</p><p>Experience using CAN communications is required.</p><p>Preferred experience includes:</p><ul><li>Lab organization, time-management, and optimizing work throughput.</li><li>Experience with interpreting circuit schematics.</li><li>Experience with electrical drives, DC/DC converters, and related power electronics technologies.</li><li>Experience with data processing and programming.</li></ul> <p></p> Cummins is an equal opportunity employer.
