About the role

Merlyn Mind is a "Remote First" VC-backed AI EdTech startup that brings the latest advances in AI to Education to help improve the lives of teachers and ultimately the learning outcomes of their students. Our leadership team includes talents from IBM, Amazon, Facebook, Roku, Broadcom, HP, Allen Institute for AI, and more. We have come together to build on a unified product experience for an extremely urgent mission – building a digital assistant for teachers, to untether teachers from the desk and help them with managing classroom technologies.
As a technology writer and content creator at Merlyn Mind, you will be responsible for covering the breakthroughs in artificial intelligence of our deep-tech innovators. Our team – from the likes of IBM, Google, Amazon, Meta, Broadcom, and the Allen Institute for AI – is building and tuning foundational large language models and AI platforms, and we want to share their work on our social channels, blog, press releases, and more.
This is a remote position, but travel to our midtown Manhattan office 2-3 times per month on Wednesdays is a must. At our office, you will gather material through one-on-one interviews, group discussions, meetings, and observation. From there, you can work remotely to create original content, repurpose content for different platforms, and help plan and execute our editorial calendar.   The technology content creator must be a skilled and versatile writer who is technology-savvy. You must be able to distill complex technological advancements into clear, coherent, and engaging content that resonates with technologists, investors, and enterprise buyers. Your ability to craft compelling narratives, conduct insightful interviews, and adapt your writing style will be pivotal in driving our brand's presence in the industry. If you're a creative wordsmith with a passion for technology and a knack for creating diverse content, we want you on our team.

What you'll do

  • Content Creation: Develop high-quality written content that effectively communicates our company's technological advancements, innovations, and solutions. Craft engaging narratives that cater to technologists, investors, and enterprise buyers, ensuring content is informative and relatable.
  • Interview Skills: Conduct in-depth interviews with subject matter experts, technical leaders, and executives to extract key insights and perspectives. Translate these insights into compelling written pieces that capture the essence of our technological achievements.
  • Audience Engagement: Tailor content to various audiences, maintaining a strong understanding of technologists' interests, investors' requirements, and enterprise buyers' needs. Ensure that content speaks directly to each group while maintaining consistency in messaging.
  • Multimedia Proficiency:Leverageadditional skills, such as podcasting, basic photography, and lightweight video content creation, to enrich content offerings and enhance audience engagement.
  • Editorial Excellence: Uphold high editorial standards, including impeccable grammar, style, and accuracy. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure content aligns with branding guidelines and resonates with the target audience.
  • Office Presence: Attend the Manhattan office 2-3x monthly to collaborate with teams, attend meetings, and immerse yourself in the company's culture and projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, Communications, Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (3-5 years) in technology writing, preferably in a B2B or technology environment.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with a demonstrated ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts.
  • Proficiency in conducting interviews and extracting meaningful insights from technical experts.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
