The Registered Nurse is responsible for assisting Health Center Physicians with patient care and acts as a team lead to supervise ancillary staff. This position provides integrated nursing services to patients, clients, and community members while supervising ancillary staff. The Registered Nurse conducts health education and promotes the well-being of patients and clients.
Duties and responsibilities
- Triage incoming calls and walk-ins.
- Provide advice or seek guidance from a physician as needed.
- Review lab results, images and other test results, and work with provider to address abnormal results.
- Communicate with other team members and other departments as needed to provide integrated care.
- Provide training and education and oversees nursing students who rotate at AACI.
- Perform nursing services such as administering vaccines (Pediatrics and Adults), performing POC tests, ear lavage, wound care, VS/Assessments (triages and in emergency situations), and venipunctures.
- Offer services to onboarding employees, including TB testing and administration of vaccines.
- Participate in off-site events by overseeing ancillary staff and nursing students.
- Assist with transporting vaccines and ensures appropriate temperature monitoring is taking place.
- Assist Nurse Manager with developing training material, conducting training, and overseeing ancillary staff completing their competency checks.
- Assist with other projects, such as developing patient education handouts and documentation cheat sheets.
- Complete other related duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (BSN) in Nursing preferred or equivalent education and training in a related field.
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience.
- Active RN License from State of California required.
- ACLS and PALS certification preferred.
- CPR Certification.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Working knowledge of common business software such as MS Office.
- Ability to deliver services in a manner that is culturally sensitive and bridges cultural differences.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to learn and use an Electronic Health Records program.

- Ability to communicate well with people of diverse cultural, professional, and experiential backgrounds.

Working conditions
Work is often conducted in an office environment inside a standard clinic setting. Basic safety precautions and use of protective clothing or gear is required. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
