Job Summary and Purpose
The Accounting Specialist position is primarily responsible for managing various accounts payable, general accounting processes, assisting with accounts receivable and assisting Staff Accountant with various duties. The position is an independent contributor with no supervisory responsibilities. This person reports directly to the Accounting Manager.
Essential Job Functions
- Accounts payable processing.
- Process remote deposits and gathering correct invoices for AR entry.
- Finance department filing and copying.
- Assist Staff Accountant with preparing billing for education/day treatment program as needed.
- Upload Insurance EOB’s/Payments from Clearing house into SmartCare.
- Work with Staff Accountant to resolve billing issues resulting from a trend in insurance denials.
- Run eligibility checks for Medicaid Clients Monthly.
- Work with Staff Accountant on Insurance denials.
- Assist Staff Accountant with entering of A/R into electronic health records system and general ledger, with a possibility of managing process in the future.
- Assist Staff Accountant with corporate credit cards and related monthly expenses, with a possibility of managing process in the future.
- Work with Development team for gift entry into general ledger
- Cross Train with Staff Accountant to cover duties as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Licensure
- Associate degree or working towards degree in Accounting; Finance or related field.
- One or more years of experience in accounting
- Three or more years of experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
- All candidates must have or qualify to obtain a current Colorado driver’s license (Must obtain license within 30 days of employment)
- All positions require criminal CBI background check, FBI fingerprint check, State of CO child abuse check, DMV driving record check, pre-employment drug test, pre-employment physical, academic credential verification, and reference check.
