We are seeking a Specialist, Underwriting Rules – Life for a full-time, 100% remote position. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in Individual Life Underwriting and at least 5 years of experience building and maintaining Underwriting Rules Engines. They should also have expertise in managing Automated Underwriting and Accelerated Underwriting processes. The candidate must be comfortable working closely with multiple levels of leadership and directly with underwriting staff. Strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical abilities, and organizational skills are essential, as this individual will manage several projects simultaneously.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Develops, implements, and maintains automated life underwriting rules engines.
Partners closely with the underwriting innovation team to ensure that the rules engines are accurate, efficient, and effective in assessing risks to make underwriting decisions or actions.
Monitors and analyzes the performance of the rules engines and make recommendations for improvements as needed.
Collaborates with other departments such as reporting and IT to ensure that the rules engines are integrated with other systems and processes.
Collaborates with external vendor partners.
Stays up to date with industry trends and best practices in automated underwriting.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager or Director
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in developing and managing automated underwriting rules engines for life insurance.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong knowledge of underwriting principles and practices. Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, and R. Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence.
