Job Description

The Biologics and Genetic Medicine group at AbbVie Bay Area is seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join a dynamic team supporting Biologics drug discovery. This position will impact projects through the discovery and engineering of biopharmaceutical products. The ideal candidate should have direct experience with molecular techniques and binding assays (e.g., ELISA or Octet), in vitro display technologies (e.g, phage display, yeast display), experience with antibody engineering, and familiarity with sequence analysis tools and molecular modeling software. The applicant should be highly autonomous—conceiving and implementing novel experimental approaches to answer scientific questions. She/he should possess excellent communication skills and be comfortable serving as Biologics Lead in project team settings.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead from the lab by executing antibody phage library panning and yeast display for antibody discovery and engineering campaigns
  • Design, execute, and troubleshoot molecular biology workflows
  • Stay abreast of current literature to continuously innovate and optimize existing workflows
  • Serve as Biologics Lead in project team meetings: effectively partner with functional and therapeutic areas to achieve project objectives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and typically 10 years of experience, Master’s Degree or equivalent education and typically 8 years of experience, PhD and no experience necessary
  • Demonstrated ability to use and design in vitro antibody discovery display technologies (e.g., phage, yeast display) for discovery and/or engineering
