There has never been a more exciting time to be working in healthcare at Microsoft. Our Health & Life Sciences Solutions organization (HLS) is an interdisciplinary team of product managers, designers, engineers, and clinicians who are designing, developing and deploying next-generation healthcare solutions powered by the Microsoft Cloud for healthcare organizations around the world.  

 

We are looking to hire a Principal Software Engineer to the team. You will be an integral member of the Dax Core team within HLS Solutions that is working to empower clinicians and patients to achieve more by reducing their efforts and provide additional value with AI support introduced with minimum fricition into their daily workflows. Our team is working in a challenging environment, continuously learning and staying at the forefront of AI development - integrating AI solutions, not creating them from scratch. The candidate will be excited about waking up every morning to tackle new challenges and apply their skills in software architecture, engineering, Infrastructure as code (IaC) and many more to create AI-centric services used by Microsoft internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements and incorporate insights into designs. Lead the incorporation of continuous feedback loops to measure customer value and usage patterns.
  • Lead architecture discussions, create proposals, and work together with other team members. Ensure system architecture meets security and compliance requirements while taking observability, reliability and global scaling into account.
  • Own delivery of new features and services end-to-end, including relevant cloud infrastructure changes. Produce maintainable and testable code at high quality. Provide expertise in coding and validation strategy, and ensure code meets quality standards.
  • Leads by example and mentors others to produce extensible and maintainable code used across products.
  • Leverages subject-matter expertise of cross-product features with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items.
  • Holds accountability as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), mentoring engineers across products/solutions, working on-call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
  • Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale and shares knowledge with other engineers.
  • Primary owner within the team of the upcoming FedRamp medium system deployment

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, Kotlin, or others

    • OR equivalent experience.

  • Proficient experience in designing, developing, and operating distributed systems and/or services in the cloud.
  • Experience working with stakeholders.
  • Previous experience working in the FedRamp space on FedRamp Moderate System (DOD IMpact level 4).

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
