Boeing is looking for a Senior Communications Specialist who is highly motivated, creative, and experienced in crisis communications to join the team in Seattle, WA. As a member of the Enterprise Safety and Quality team, this communicator will collaborate with business partners, enterprise colleagues and external stakeholders to lead communications in response to accidents and incidents primarily involving commercial products, and for the Regulatory Administration and Airworthiness organization.
The position requires the capability to network with senior experts, understand the regulatory and legal environment, act with discretion and have excellent judgment. The position also requires strong writing and editing skills, understanding of digital channels and storytelling, and the ability to learn and utilize a variety of communications tools and processes.
Position Responsibilities:
Acts as the communications lead in response to aerospace accidents and incidents, working collaboratively with other communications professionals and subject-matter experts across the enterprise to activate the company’s multi-channel response in line with external stakeholder expectations (e.g. airlines, NTSB, FAA)
Develops timely responses to emergent issues regarding safety and compliance across Boeing’s commercial product line, in conjunction with relevant internal stakeholders
Leads proactive crisis communications planning to ensure readiness across the commercial and defense portfolios
Contributes to strategic integrated communications plans – including digital, social and traditional communications strategies – that tell the story of Boeing’s commitment to safety and the continued efforts to improve
Develops and maintains relationships with external counterparts at investigative and/or regulatory agencies to ensure messaging and material is compliant, while serving as a subject matter expert externally as required
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in crisis communications and issues management, content development and storytelling. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and be capable to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, while meeting tight deadlines. The candidate will have the ability to team effectively at all levels of the company. Work outside of traditional office hours is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's degree or higher
5+ years of experience in issues management
5+ years of experience in developing and implementing strategic communications plans
5+ years of experience providing strategic counsel to senior / executive leaders
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Aerospace experience
Experience managing internal and external strategic relationships
Experience working with large cross-functional teams

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range for: $133,450 – $180,550
