Research Scientist Intern, Binaural Speech ML (PhD)

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Research Scientist Intern to join our team in developing cutting-edge binaural speech related Machine Learning models. As a Research Scientist Intern on the Wearables Audio Technologies Team at Meta Reality Labs, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects that push the boundaries of what is possible with spatial hearing, speech processing and machine learning.

• Train novel deep learning models for binaural speech in noise modeling in Pytorch
• Process and analyze binaural speech and audio data: including data cleaning, feature extraction and visualization
• Collaborate with other researchers to design, conduct, and analyze data collection through listening experiments
• Design and conduct experiments to evaluate the performance of these models and interpret results
• Communicate findings through written reports and presentations

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently has, or in the process of obtaining a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Auditory Neuroscience, Acoustic, Audio, Audio Signal processing, Biomedical Engineering or a related field
• Experience in deep learning and speech/hearing/audio sciences
• 2+ years experience with Python and PyTorch
• Understanding of spatial hearing concepts
• Knowledge of human auditory processing, perception and perceptual audio evaluation
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to quickly learn new concepts, techniques, and tools, and apply them to solve complex problems
• Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with spatial audio modeling
• Familiarity with evaluation metrics for speech quality and spatial quality
• Strong programming skills in Python
• Experience with version control systems
• Experience with productionizing ML models
• Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
