We are hiring for the following:

Position:    Physician

Schedule:  PT, 2hrs per week, On-Call Required

Location:   San Benito County Jail

• As a physician you will report directly to our Chief Medical Officer.

• You will no longer have to work during weekends or any company recognized holidays.

• You can choose to work either 4–10-hour days or 5–8-hour days.

• You will have your dedicated nurse when you see your patients.

• Your patient load could range between 15-22 a day. The average age of our patients is 25-35 where about 80% of them are males.

• You will have autonomy to refer individuals to see a specialist as needed.

• We use a very generous formulary which allows you to prescribe the appropriate type of medications solely based on your judgment.

• You will be working alongside a skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner.

• We have comprehensive practical Nursing Guidelines that the nurses use when screening individual patients before they are to be seen by you.

• The detention center is staffed by licensed healthcare professionals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

• All the behavioral and mental health patients are diagnosed and managed by our Licensed Mental Health clinicians and our Psychiatrist.

• The medical department of the detention center already has protocols and guidelines for management of individuals who arrive to the jail who might be going through withdrawal from alcohol, opioids, and benzodiazepines and other illicit substances.

• There is a Dentist and Dental Assistant on-site two days per week.

• We have designated medical records clerks that will request and obtain offsite medical records prior to incarceration.

• We have a very user-friendly EMR system and a dedicated in-house support team to help train and troubleshoot any issues as needed.

• You can put the headache behind you of having to fill out insurance required forms, unnecessary bureaucratic paperwork or having to worry about collections.

• The medical department and any other areas that you may end up to see patients is staffed by security personnel 24/7.

• The majority of the new arrivals to the detention center will be released or bonded within the first week.

• MEDIKO will provide you with training and orientation into correctional medicine by physicians and personnel that have decades of experience in this field.
