Job Description

Metro State University, Minnesota’s public, urban university, and four-time recipient of the Insight Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award is seeking to hire a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Program Specialist.   This is a full-time position within the Institute for Professional Development Department, Metro State’s unit for customized non-credit training.

Job Responsibilities:

This Institute for Professional Development (IPD) position will meet client needs, contribute to achieving Metro State University strategic initiatives, and help transform Minnesota State College and University System’s approach to Equity 2030 by adding a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) program that assists external businesses with adding DEI training and best practice.

Since DEI is a consistently requested topic by potential clients, this position will build DEI curriculum and training options for business leaders, HR specialists, and general employees or other audiences as they emerge.  While IPD provides training to a variety of organizations, this curriculum is being targeted at mid-size Minnesota businesses and public sector entities.  The position will provide training options that are flexible and affordable to meet the needs of clients, but also executed to ensure the direct training costs and department overhead are met to contribute to university fiscal sustainability.

This position will promote DEI and DEI training in collaboration with the IPD team through building curriculum, marketing training options, working with clients to tailor training options, and selling and delivering high-quality interactive training workshops on DEI and related employee development topics.

This role will incorporate relationship sales through the program building process and continue those relationships through delivering interactive training content on the topic of DEI at a quality that encourages clients to continue to use IPD as its training provider.

This role will use project management concepts such as defining project scope, deliverables, and quality, and managing budget to bring the project in at projected expense while managing stakeholders such as clients, instructors, IPD Director, and IPD team members.

This is a year-round position. While this position has elements of non-credit instruction, it is not a faculty position nor is it considered to be on a tenured track.

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position:
