Job Description
At Lockheed Martin we keep people safe and solve the world's most complex challenges. Our people are some of the greatest minds in the industry and truly make Lockheed Martin a great place to work. With our employees as our priority, we provide career opportunities designed to propel development and boost agility. Our flexible schedules, competitive pay, and comprehensive benefits enable our employees to live a healthy, fulfilling life at and outside of work.
In this role you will be part of the “hands on” heartbeat of the materials and processes lab:
• Run the tests that matter – Set up, verify, and execute mechanical, thermal, corrosion, chemical and fatigue tests on metals, ceramics, and polymers, and other supporting materials and parts using both standard rigs and cutting edge instrumentation.
• Prepare flawless specimens – Cut, machine, polish, and condition samples to exacting tolerances; verify that every test specimen meets the detailed method specifications required for reliable test results.
• Collect and analyze data with laser sharp precision – Apply rigorous testing methods, capture raw test measurements, and interpret the results to confirm they are logical and repeatable. Meticulous attention to detail is mandatory—any oversight can mean the difference between a pass and a fail, a launch or a delay.
• Document every step – Prepare meticulous lab testing documentation, non conformance reports, and formal test reports that meet aerospace quality standards; every observation, deviation, and requirement must be recorded accurately and promptly.
• Maintain a safe, compliant environment – Follow all safety protocols, perform equipment checks, and ensure proper handling of hazardous materials; keep the lab running smoothly and audit ready at all times.
• Partner with cross functional experts – Work side by side with Lab Experts, Design Engineers, Manufacturing, Quality, and Procurement to translate test requirements into actionable test plans and to feed real world data back into product development and manufacturing.
• Customer Facing Test Development – Partner with customers to define test plans, execute laboratory testing, and interpret results, delivering clear, data driven insights that support their program objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement – Identify test procedure inefficiencies, suggest new methodologies, and help upgrade lab capabilities—always looking for ways to boost accuracy, speed, and cost effectiveness.
Your mission isn’t to design satellites, or rockets, or human spacecraft; it’s to rigorously verify that every material in those builds performs exactly as intended. Success hinges on being vigilant, methodical, and relentlessly detail oriented.
What We’re Looking For
• Hands On Engineering Talent – A passionate engineer eager to dive into material testing work, roll up their sleeves, and get the job done in the lab or field.
• Proactive Collaborator – An inquisitive, self starter who thrives in a geographically dispersed team: you’ll pick up the phone, fire off the email, ask the right questions, and listen actively to resolve technical challenges.
• Agile Multi Project Manager – Someone who thrives amid shifting priorities, can juggle multiple initiatives, and consistently hits deadlines—making adjustments, seeking help when needed, and always keeping the mission front and center.
• Clear Communicator & Growth Oriented – Comfortable presenting ideas across a variety of forums, you embrace feedback, continuously develop your skill set, and maintain a growth mindset.
• Strategic Partner – Able to interface effectively with management and program stakeholders at all levels, building strong relationships that drive project success.
If this sounds like you...hit APPLY.
