Humana Healthy Horizons is seeking an Associate Director, Medicaid Implementation (Business Project Management) to lead within a specific defined business area (non-IT) within Humana. This role mainly focuses on the "Business" side of State Medicaid Implementations with very limited scope in the IT implementation activities. Note: This role does NOT operate in a traditional Project Manager functional way. Individuals with business process change management and project management are best suited for this role.The Associate Director, Medicaid Implementation (Business Project Management) will provide oversight to the development of solutions to relevant non-standard contractual requirements and/or local needs of each Medicaid market.
The Associate Director key roles and responsibilities include:
- Lead a team of program managers supporting new Medicaid state contract implementations.
- Coach and mentor associates to promote growth and development.
- Develop implementation playbook to ensure consistency in applying implementation practices.
- Promote team brand strategy.
- Establish and maintain order around evolving implementation model, ensuring resources, and understanding priorities to meet project targets and milestones.
- Collaborate with leadership to define operational strategies to ensure Humana success.
- Coordinate across all operational areas to work through operational issues/and strategies to respond to state priorities and changing landscape.
- Organize and lead teams through the project life cycle e.g., kick-off to project launch.
- Drive coordination between internal/external Humana stakeholders, the state, and state partners to ensure the Humana team has clarity regarding information and requirements to meet state expectations.
- Identify and solve problems that impact the management and direction of the business.
- Plan, organize, monitor, and oversee complex network implementations utilizing matrixed and cross functional teams to deliver defined requirements and meet company strategic objectives.
- Engage in all new market implementations, including understanding contract provisions, to support and guide team members on priorities and help them manage risks and escalations.

Required Qualifications
- Must reside in the eastern or central standard time zones in the United States.
- Bachelor's degree, or 6 years of relevant work experience.
- 6+ years of Business Project Management experience working with large size initiatives.
- 5+ years of direct management and leadership experience.
- 2+ years of experience in Change Management.
- 3+ years working in a managed care healthcare system or health plan.
- Experience working in Medicaid and/or Medicare.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Smartsheet.
- Experience in business operations or consulting services in a health plan.
- Possess a solid understanding of operations, technology, communications and processes.
- Experience in the clinical health care space, such as utilization management, pharmacy, care management, behavioral health.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Experience working in Medicaid implementation.
- Prosci, Six Sigma, and / or Project Management Institute certifications.
Work at Home Requirements
- At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
- Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.
- Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
- Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
Additional Information
- Travel: Up to 25% to Humana office locations.
- Workstyle: Remote, must work hours within the eastern time zone.
- Direct Reports: up to 12 associates.
- Core Workdays & Hours: Typically, 8-5 pm Monday – Friday; Eastern Standard Time (EST)
