Fraud Prevention & Compliance Coordinator

The position will be responsible for prevention, detection, monitoring, and proper reporting of issues related to identity theft, financial aid fraud, and abuse. Such issues will be analyzed and reported to the AVP, Online Operations. This role formulates policy recommendations to decrease identity theft and financial aid and abuse. The position will be responsible for understanding compliance with university regulations and policies and will assist in ensuring the University’s compliance with these requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the University’s identity theft prevention program (risk factors). Will be responsible for identifying potential fraudulent students and instances of abuse.
  • Provides guidance, regulatory interpretations and updates on policies and practices to the AVP, Online Operations/OED and provides recommendations on processes and issues related to fraud and abuse.
  • Partner with AVP, Student Financial Services and compliance to monitor activity of the University’s high fraud risk factor population to identity theft, financial aid fraud, and abuse. 
  • Interacts with interdepartmental teams to resolve identity issues and other related matters.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with other Rasmussen University departments to support university goals and ensure seamless customer service.
  • Provides recommendations to the AVP, Online Operations, AVP, Student Financial Services, OED, and Compliance on processes and issues related to fraud and abuse.
  • Compiles and summarizes information internal reporting and review.
  • Manage student communication and disputes.
  • Overall support for Rasmussen University Online as deemed necessary by AVP, Online Operations.

Reporting Relationships:

The Fraud Prevention and Compliance Coordinator will report to the AVP, Online Operations. This position will have no direct reports.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; will consider candidates without Bachelor's degree with meaningful college and/or professional experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in fraud detection, investigation or analysis, preferably within the education industry.
  • Knowledge of regulations governing the education sector.
  • Understanding of fraud detection methodologies and technologies.
  • Ability to analyze and document fraud detection processes and requirements.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, including ability to document findings to support account reviews and preparing reports on fraud trends and incidents.
