Description

Responsible for sustaining organizational adherence to Magnet and/or Pathway to Excellence Program components. Evaluates organizational compliance, identifies gaps, areas of improvement, and leads teams to identify action plans that address and improve opportunities identified. Collaborates with and assists nursing at all levels conducting performance improvement activities, sustaining a culture of excellence, and maintaining a bedside driven nursing leadership practice environment. Bronson resident expert and site coordinator for NDNQI,  Nursing Excellence Survey, Nursing Productivity, Nursing Demographics, and ANCC Magnet Recognition Program and/or Pathway to Excellence Program. Responsible for providing, coordinating bedside nurse education regarding NDNQI and Magnet/Pathway components, integrating PFE into daily practice, and implementing evidence based practice in nursing’s daily routine. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

Bachelor's degree in Nursing required and Master’s degree required (preferably with Nursing as area of focus) and 3-5 years’ experience in the healthcare field with progressively increasing responsibility, including management of one or more areas of nursing at the department head level. Current Michigan license. Certification in good standing in specialty strongly preferred • Working knowledge of nursing standards and data analyses • Advanced word processing and spreadsheet skills required (Microsoft Word & Excel) • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally • Ability to interact with all levels in healthcare environment including executives, leaders, staff, physicians, and community members • Proven ability to negotiate agreement and acceptance of change with complex and difficult situations. Work which produces very high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g. CRT work between 70 and 90 percent of the time, and work involving extremely close tolerances and considerable hand/eye coordination for sustained periods of time. Involves regularly lifting of bulky or moderately heavy weights (i.e., up to 50 pounds), and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or expending the equivalent effort in pushing, pulling, or otherwise handling material, equipment, and other objects. • Accountable for developing, analyzing, maintaining, and publishing nursing quality data, information, and scorecards. • Accountable for overseeing organizational adherence and education of ANCC Magnet and/or Pathway to Excellence requirements, application, and required reporting. • Works collaboratively with nursing leadership and staff, physicians, and executives. • Responsible for the oversight of nursing sensitive indicators measurement. Site coordinator/administrator for the following: o National Database for Nursing Quality Indicators. o Nursing Excellence Survey. o Nursing Productivity. • Assists in the evaluation of quality and appropriateness of care. • Facilitates all aspects of the Magnet and/or Pathway to Excellence application and submission process. • Ensures accuracy and completion of all Magnet and/or Pathway to Excellence documents. • Educates nursing staff on Magnet/Pathway components. • Reviews and interprets Magnet/Pathway components and communicates findings to team members and nursing leaders. • Mentors staff to develop professionally and establish an autonomous professional practice environment. • Educates and works with nursing leadership / management to ensure adherence to guiding principles. • Works collaboratively to ensure focus on quality indicator improvement with nursing leadership and staff. • Works closely with nursing leadership and hospital PI to establish appropriate metric development, database use, and benchmarks. • Ensures accuracy of data and reports. • Creates, updates, and maintains scorecards for units and nursing division. • Works collaboratively with OI/PI to ensure accreditation / regulatory compliance. • Inputs into policy and procedures to ensure integration with Evidence Based Practices (EBP) and identified areas of need. • Provides presentations to nursing, community regarding Magnet/Pathway, nursing quality, and professional
