Job Summary:
The Waisman Center is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases throughout the lifespan. One of 15 centers of its kind in the United States, the Waisman Center encompasses laboratories for biomedical and behavioral research, several scientific research cores, and a clinical biomanufacturing facility for the production of pharmaceuticals for early stage human clinical trials. In addition to its research efforts, the Center provides an array of services to people with developmental disabilities, offers numerous educational and outreach programs to young children and their families, and trains scientists and clinicians who will serve our nation in the future.
The Waisman Center Early Childhood Program (WECP) is an inclusive, full-day, year-round preschool for children ages 1 through 6. Up to 1/3 of the children enrolled may have special needs because of a disability, medical condition, or behavioral challenge. WECP follows a developmental play-based curriculum. It is licensed by the State of Wisconsin, and accredited by the City of Madison and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
The WECP Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting with curriculum preparation, classroom facilitation, student monitoring to ensure safety and foster an environment of learning and development in accordance with established curriculum and interacts regularly with parents.

Interacts regularly with parents.- 30% Assists with the planning and facilitation of classroom programming and classroom coordination and organization for a early childhood education facility according to established curriculums
- 30% Maintains the safety and physical well-being of children in a designated classroom
- 15% Updates and organizes individualized and developmental educational plans for children
- 10% Assists with basic technical and administrative classroom support
- 15% Documents effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to relay pertinent information and provide updates of child activities per established guidelines and regulations

Education:
Required
H.S. Diploma
A High School Diploma or GED required.
Qualifications:
Well-qualified candidates will have 240 hours or more of experience working in a pre-school or early childhood setting, preferably within a team-teaching setting.
Candidates must meet Assistant Teacher qualifications per Department of Children and Families (DCF) 251 Licensing.
Wisconsin Registry with Assistant Teacher qualifications is required. Minimum Registry Level 2, Level 3 or higher is preferred.
License/Certification:
Preferred
Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Exceptional Educational Needs, or closely related educational license and/or certificate is preferred.
Work Schedule:
A schedule between the hours of 7:30am and 5:30pm will be determined upon hire.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Minimum $19.00 HOURLY
