Overview


We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Prep Cook to join our Journeyman Lodge team here at The Callaghan! As a Prep Cook at our backcountry lodge, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and consistency of our menu offerings. You will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of dishes while adhering to our high standards for taste, food quality, and food safety.


In addition to Journeyman Lodge food service, we are now providing delicious meals at our newly renovated double decker bus venue, The Callaghan Cafe, destined to become an iconic location among Whistler’s vibrant food scene. With a passion for culinary excellence, we take pride in our commitment to using fresh, locally sourced ingredients to create mouthwatering dishes that keep our patrons coming back for more. What You’ll Get To Do:


• Collaborate with the Chef to develop innovative and appealing menu items that align with each venue’s culinary concept and seasonal ingredients.

• Adapt dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.

• Maintain and follow standardized recipes, established prep routines, and cooking techniques.

• Ensure the freshness and quality of ingredients used in food preparation.

• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment and appliances.

• Maintaining a positive and productive work environment fosters teamwork and communication among kitchen team members.

• Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.

• Assist in inventory management and ordering supplies as needed.

• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

• Support strategies to minimize waste and maximize efficiency in the kitchen.

Requirements

What You’ll Bring to the Team:


• A valid Canadian SIN; unfortunately we are unable to assist out of country candidates who do not have a valid work permit for Canada.

• Must have own transportation (The Callaghan Valley is not serviced by transit)

• Vibrant, welcoming, and "cooler than no one!" approach towards teamwork 

• Effectively multitasking in a high energy, fast-paced environment 

• Ability to work individually and in a team environment 

• Strong communicator, accountable and punctual 

• Attention to detail and creative problem solver 

• Attention to uniform cleanliness, personal hygiene, and professional appearance 

• Ability to work full day shifts, both weekdays and weekends 

• Available to work around most major holidays 

• Proven experience as a Prep Cook in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

• Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Creativity and a passion for creating delicious and visually appealing dishes.

• Food Safe Certificate is required

• Demonstrated initiative in community and volunteer endeavors 


What’s in it for you:


Wage:


The base wage for this role ranges from $20.00 to $25.00. Where you land in that range depends on your skills and experience, and we also factor in internal pay equity. While the full range is listed for this role, we rarely hire at the top of the range, leaving room for professional and financial growth in role.
