Summary
Responsible for providing entry level reading and evaluation of customers’ water and electricity use for the City of Garland.
Pay Range: Starting at $15 (Depending on qualifications and experience)
Work Schedule: (100% Onsite) Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Utilize various methods to accurately/efficiently record electric and water meters readings daily.
Operate vehicles to travel to and from assigned meter reading routes.
Maintain accurate records of readings and other data collected.
Operate computers for drive by meter data collection.
Communicate all repairs, leaks, service problems and/or general information to office dispatchers, as needed.
Assist with the installation/repair of radio meters.
Assist with field service orders.
May train new hires on meter reading and equipment usage.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
No experience necessary (On the job training)
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications
Education/ Experience
1 year experience in public utilities
Experience with reading software, mobile units and handhelds
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Basic knowledge of electric/water meter(s) reading
Basic knowledge of city street and address systems
Basic knowledge of public contact techniques and principles
Ability to provide excellent customer service
Ability to work multiple assignments
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Ability to work in a team environment
Licenses and Certifications
Valid Class C Texas driver's license
