Job Description:

As the Director of Data Operations & Engineering, you will lead the evolution of our financial data ecosystem. Beyond managing infrastructure, you will be the owner of our Data Assets. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of Engineers, Data Analyst and Power BI Experts to transform raw data into high-value Data Products—reusable, reliable, and interactive tools that drive business strategy. You will bridge the gap between back-end engineering (Snowflake/dbt) and front-end product delivery (Power BI), ensuring that our data is not just "available," but "actionable.

Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Operations (The Engine)

  • Architectural Strategy: Lead the design of back-end data models and Snowflake schemas to support long-term scalability and high-concurrency usage.

  • Robust ELT Pipelines & Data Quality: Oversee the development and maintenance of automated pipelines using dbt, ensuring strict version control, documentation, and data lineage. Implement testing and monitoring to guarantee the accuracy of upstream data.

Data Product & Visualization (The Interface)

  • Data Product & UX Innovation: Shift from static reporting to Data Product development. Use Power BI to build interactive tools. Champion high standards for data visualization. Ensure all Power BI assets are intuitive, and follow a consistent design language.

  • KPI Governance: Partner with cross-functional leaders to define and standardize core business metrics, ensuring consistency across every dashboard and tool.

  • Self-Service Enablement: Empower non-technical stakeholders by building "Certified Semantic Models" that allow users to safely build their own reports.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Team Mentorship: Lead and grow a team of Data Engineers, Architects, and BI Experts, providing hands-on technical guidance in SQL, dbt, and DAX.

  • Strategic Liaison: Act as the primary "translator" between technical engineering constraints and business requirements from Finance, Ops, and Marketing.

  • Analytical Mindset: Drive a culture of "Discovery" performing deep investigations into data anomalies to provide proactive business recommendations.

The Ideal Candidate Profile

Technical Mastery

  • Power BI Expert: Deep mastery of DAX, Power BI Service architecture, and advanced visualization techniques.

  • The Modern Stack: High proficiency in Snowflake and dbt. You know how to structure a data warehouse.

  • SQL Power User: Ability to perform deep-dive investigations and complex data discovery.

Business & Leadership Skills

  • Business Acumen: Deep understanding of how business metrics (e.g., LTV, CAC, Margin) translate into data requirements.

  • Communication: Ability to present technical roadmaps to the C-suite and simplify complex data concepts for stakeholders.

  • Collaborative Spirit: A cross-functional partner who can lead through influence and build relationships across departments.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Data/Analytics, with at least 3+ years in a senior leadership role.

  • Proven experience launching internal data products or tools that achieved high user adoption.

  • Expert knowledge of the Snowflake + dbt + Power BI ecosystem.

  • Exceptional communication skills—ability to pitch a "data product" vision to the C-suite.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a quantitative discipline such as engineering, mathematics, statistics, business, economics, etc.

  • MBA or Master’s in quantitative disciplines such as analytics, MIS, etc.
