We are seeking a skilled Application Tester to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for both manual and automated testing of software applications, ensuring optimum quality, performance, and usability. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in a variety of testing frameworks and methodologies, complemented by proven abilities in training, documentation, and cross-team communication.
Core Responsibilities- Expertise in manual testing, including functional, regression, and exploratory testing.
- Hands-on experience with automation testing using tools such as Selenium, QTP, JUnit, TestNG, or Appium.
- Performing a variety of testing types: functional, regression, performance (load, stress, scalability), security, usability, compatibility, user acceptance (UAT), API, and database testing (SQL, DB validation is a plus).
- Strong understanding of SDLC models such as Agile, Waterfall, V-Model, etc.
- Hands-on experience in Agile frameworks, including Scrum and Kanban.
- Test planning and estimation for upcoming projects.
- Ability to write and execute detailed, efficient test cases based on business requirements or user stories.
- Creating and executing test scenarios and managing test data for different use cases.
- Familiarity with defect tracking tools like JIRA, Bugzilla, Trello, or Redmine.
- Skilled in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive bug reports.
- Thorough knowledge of defect life cycle, including understanding priority and severity.
- Proficient in setting up and managing test environments (Dev, QA, Staging, Production).
- Experience using tools like JMeter (or similar) for performance, load, stress, and scalability testing.
- Capable of analyzing performance bottlenecks and recommending optimizations.
- Familiar with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or Travis CI.
- Ability to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for quick feedback.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java.
- Experience with automation frameworks such as Selenium WebDriver, Cucumber, TestNG, Appium, and JUnit.
- Writing reusable and maintainable test scripts.
- Ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans, test case documents, and user guides.
- Experience with documentation tools such as Confluence, SharePoint, MS Word, or Google Docs.
- Creating and maintaining test logs, defect reports, and status reports.
- Proficiency with test case management tools like TestRail, Quality Center, or PractiTest.
- Organizing, storing, and managing test cases for future reuse.
- Capable of training end-users and new team members on software functionality and testing processes.
- Able to create effective training materials, including guides, videos, and FAQs.
- Facilitating hands-on workshops or knowledge-sharing sessions with stakeholders.
- Preparing user manuals and help documentation to guide users through product features.
- Documenting known issues, workarounds, and FAQs for user reference.
- Developing and maintaining a knowledge base of testing best practices, tools, and procedures.
- Providing self-service documentation resources for testers and end-users.
- Presenting test results and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Reporting test progress, milestones, and outcomes to project managers or leadership.
- Identifying potential risks and communicating them effectively.
- Maintaining risk registers and suggesting risk mitigation strategies in documentation.
- Designing training materials such as PowerPoint presentations, e-learning modules, and guides.
- Creating simulations and walkthrough videos for training purposes.
- Writing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for testing processes and documentation standards.
- Attention to detail: Ensuring all test cases are thorough and comprehensive.
- Effective communication: Collaborating with developers, project managers, and business stakeholders.
- Problem-solving: Debugging complex issues and identifying root causes.
- Time management: Prioritizing tasks and managing testing timelines.
- Collaboration: Working effectively in cross-functional teams.
