Job Summary:

Administers psychological tests to patients with some guidance. Scores, records, and interprets test results, administers all activities of testing service. Patients are from pre-school age through adulthood.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers and scores personality, intelligence, aptitude, achievement, and other psychological and neuropsychological tests.

  • Gives paper and pencil tests or utilize neuropsychological instruments that access memory learning, and problem-solving ability, speed, strength, coordination, hearing, touch and/or vision.

  • Assists with research studies, including giving tests to patients, tabulating and entering results in the computer.

  • Assists in training psychology interns and practicum students in psychological and/or neuropsychological examinations.

  • The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

1a.) master’s degree in psychology, or equivalent, from an accredited college or university (the degree award may be pending, but the candidate must have completed a minimum of one (1) academic year of graduate training totaling a minimum of 33 graduate semester hours at the time of hire).

OR

1b.) The candidate may be a student in a doctoral program in psychology who has completed at least one (1) academic year of graduate training totaling a minimum of 33 graduate semester hours

2.) Completion of necessary coursework required for the Tennessee CPA, including, a minimum of 6 graduate semester hours in various aspects of psychological testing

3.) Completion of a supervised practicum in psychological assessment totaling a minimum of 300 clinical hours and carrying a minimum of 3 semester hours of graduate credit


TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

  • Observation (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of observation in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering results without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job.

  • Test Scoring (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of test scoring in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering results without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job.
