The WW Equipment Engineering Innovation team is searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented engineer to lead the initiative of developing and delivering current and next generation equipment for our world-class delivery stations. This is a unique opportunity at a critical juncture in Amazon’s growth to drive end to end equipment development, work with vendor across the world to increase vendor’s design and manufacturing capability and drive internal and external equipment quality control mechanisms.
We’re looking for a technical leader that will help us build the supplier quality foundation, ensuring vendors deliver high-quality, production-ready equipment. They will optimize our global supplier quality management program and build manufacturing excellence, design and implement scalable Quality Assurance/ Quality Control solutions in collaboration with Product Development, Sourcing, and other cross-functional teams. You thrive in a highly collaborative, analytical, creative, and fast-paced environment. You have a strong inclination to get things done and deliver scalable results at speed.
To be successful in this role you will need to be able to influence and work with senior leaders across multiple organizations and geographies. You will work with organizations such as Worldwide (WW) Engineering and Design, WW Tech SME, Last Mile Delivery and Tech as well as Operations to innovate at scale and drive the development roadmap. You will manage large, complex initiatives, and advocate on behalf of the customer to develop the next generation of AMZL delivery station.
You will work with a team of highly skilled and highly engaged engineers in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment. Our team works on the medium and long term, incremental and radical innovation of process infrastructure, equipment and standards for launch and legacy delivery stations. You will be challenged; you will learn; you will work on high impact, high visibility projects; you will grow.
Key job responsibilities
-Act as the primary technical interface with regards to Quality & Manufacturing between suppliers and internal teams, shaping quality processes for future growth.
-Be customer-obsessed and ensure satisfaction with deployed equipment solutions over the product lifecycle.
-Help develop the initial quality management system for AMZL equipment to monitor field performance, ongoing production, supplier performance, and overall quality metrics.
-Create documentation for equipment solutions, such as quality specifications for manufacturing processes, CTQs, FAIR, assembly instructions, and equipment design standards, etc.
-Build large-scale business proposals based on innovation designs for WW Ops Engineering, often with ambiguity; collaborate with WHS, Planning, Launch, Procurement, Finance, HR, external partners and product teams to ensure project completion (on time and within budget)
-Up to 50% regional and WW travel depending on -business needs
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 5+ years of Design/Innovation, research & development, manufacturing, process, industrial engineering, or related experience
- Experience with end-to-end ownership of major project deliverables
- Knowledge of Quality systems and Manufacturing operations across industries. (CPG, CE, Automotive, Aerospace).
- NPI experience working with cross functional stakeholders and external vendors/suppliers/CMs following one of the following methodologies: NPI, NPD, Systems Engineering, V-Frame, PPAP, FAIR
- Experience supporting product fleet and field quality, levering data to identify trends, drive retrofits and repairs, predict issues and drive preventative action at the factory and supplier level
