About the role
SCOT (Supply Chain Optimization Technology) builds large distributed services for Amazon's supply chain worldwide. With a supply chain as complex as Amazon, the smallest of changes can have a profound impact on the end customer experience.
We're looking for exceptional software engineers to define, design, and build the next generation solution for how Amazon manages its inventory selection. In this job you will apply core software engineering skills on a daily basis.
At Amazon you can take your skills to scale as you innovate on and expand these distributed systems. You will be applying core software engineering skills daily – such as coding in Java or Scala, OO and systems design, machine learning, and problem solving – while utilizing advanced algorithmic and analytical skills. You will also be heavily involved in a multitude of diverse technologies and software engineering models that are used in Service Oriented Architecture. Key job responsibilities
- Work with business partners to understand customer requirements.
- Understand and works with a variety of AWS technologies (DynamoDB, EMR, SageMaker, Step Function, Lambda, etc.) to build and deliver highly available, performant, and scalable systems to delight our customers.
- Own and execute roadmap features, from concept to launch.
- Work with a team of software engineers in a agile environment
- Build highly available and scalable services
- Design and develop software in an eco system of data pipelines, REST services, reactive web applications, batch application, messaging services.
- Work on machine learning and big data technologies.
- Effectively articulate technical issues and solutions to non-technical audience.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Bellevue, WA, USA
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
