As an Outdoor Summer Camp Counselor at YMCA Camp Moody, you play a crucial role in shaping the camp experience for kids across Central Texas. Your leadership, energy, and enthusiasm help create a fun, safe environment where campers can explore, learn, and grow. From leading outdoor adventures to facilitating group activities, your role is about more than just supervising—it's about inspiring campers to build connections and feel a sense of belonging. Your commitment to safety and inclusion ensures every camper has the best summer yet!
How You Will Make an Impact
- Supervise and interact with campers to foster a safe, supportive space where they can grow and thrive.
- Lead outdoor activities to encourage teamwork, build resilience, and inspire a love for nature.
- Facilitate group games, arts & crafts, and workshops to enhance creativity, confidence, and skill development.
- Prioritize camper safety to ensure they enjoy activities worry-free and with confidence.
- Promote inclusivity to ensure every camper feels valued, respected, and supported.
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and staff to strengthen connections and ensure a positive experience.
- Support camp logistics to ensure smooth operations, creating more time for impactful moments with campers.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
What You Bring What You Bring to the Y
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- A minimum of one year of experience in camps, childcare programs, or similar environments is preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
- First Aid/CPR certifications (must be obtained within 30 days of employment).

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, hike outdoors in hot temperatures, bend, talk, and occasionally lift and/or move items, including equipment, furniture, and/or children.
