About the role

The Specialist, Quality Assurance & Food Safety, supports the QA and FS programs in our Pompano Beach, FL facility by executing, monitoring, and continuously improving quality and food safety systems. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and GFSI standards, while protecting product integrity. Responsibilities include supporting audits, delivering training, conducting environmental monitoring, and driving continuous improvement initiatives, serving as a key contributor to the overall QA and food safety programs.

What You Will Do At Acme:
• Perform daily quality and food safety monitoring, including CCP verification, equipment calibrations, and in-process/finished product inspections.
• Oversee sanitation programs by monitoring cleaning effectiveness, managing chemical usage, and coordinating with sanitation staff and suppliers.
• Conduct and improve environmental and product sampling programs; manage testing, track results, and analyze trends.
• Verify sanitation and allergen control effectiveness using ATP and related verification methods.
• Investigate non-conformances, consumer complaints, and audit findings; implement root cause analysis and CAPA.
• Lead internal audits, inspections, and traceability/mass balance exercises to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
• Maintain QA & FS documentation, SOPs, SSOPs, and monitoring records to ensure accuracy and audit readiness.
• Support product hold/release processes, including review of laboratory results and disposition of returned goods.
• Deliver employee training on GMPs, food safety, sanitation, and quality procedures.
• Monitor supplier quality, packaging integrity, pest control, and incoming materials to safeguard compliance and product integrity.
• Prepare and coordinate sensory evaluations; ensure panelists are trained on product specifications and attributes.
• Partner with QA & FS leadership to track KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives across quality and food safety programs.

Your Education & Experience:
• 2+ years in food manufacturing setting in a Technical & Qualify function preferred.
• B.S. in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field.
• Experience working within an FDA or USDA regulated facility.

Your Skills & Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of FDA food regulations, HACCP principles, and GFSI standards (BRCGS, SQF).
• Knowledge of, or certification in, USFDA Seafood HACCP Guidelines is a plus.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and maintain strong attention to detail.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively within diverse teams and positively influence outcomes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
• Successful completion of assigned training programs, including standards of work.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to spend up to 80% of time on plant environment.
• The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms or legs to perform job tasks.
• Must be able to reach above and below shoulder height to move product. This includes the ability to move throughout all areas of the facility.
• Ability to climb stairs
• The ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects using hands, arms, back, abdominal muscles, shoulders, legs, or a combination of these muscle groups.
• The ability to wear all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job duties.
• The ability to work in cold (32 to 45°F) and wet environment
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
