Scope of Position: In this role, you will be responsible for promoting a safe, and environmentally compliant work environment for all employees, maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state local, and corporate environmental and safety laws, supervise maintenance staff and operations and performance excellence teams.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and communicate Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) programs and policies
- Develop and work towards all required Corporate EHS policies, standards, and procedures
- Maintains SDS system and ensure new materials and products have proper SDS sheets and training
- Ensure any new chemical safety and environmental requirements are assessed and understood prior to bringing onsite
- Implement special project assignments related to maintenance, facility and/or equipment layouts (LEAN)
- Ensure Material Handling programs are supported and improved
- Emergency Response programs and leadership, ergonomic evaluations and lead ISO 14001 efforts
- Oversee hazardous waste, environmental permits, reduction of waste, and other environmental applicable programs
- Implement safety programs to develop an inter-dependent safety culture where everyone is watching out for everyone’s safety
- Mentor and coach subject matter experts on their safety programs; ensures effective development and delivery of all EHS related training and education programs and maintain EHS records
- Understand and coach others on State and Federal Laws related to Department of Labor and Industry, Occupational Safety and Health Act, Air and Water Pollution Controls and Insurance requirements, as well corporate Safety, health, and environmental requirements
- Responds, in conjunction with supervisors/management, to EH&S emergencies, investigates accidents, takes part along with other groups, and recommends corrective and preventive action. Coordinates reporting, tracking, and trend analysis of EHS metrics
- Works with leadership to set annual targets for injury reduction and develop the Safety Annual Plan and drive necessary actions to meet or exceed targets
- Leads internal audits and ensure prompt corrective action for discrepancies and work with internal and external groups to manage industrial and chemical hygiene, safety, health and environmental audits/ inspections
- Supervise maintenance and performance excellence team to ensure facilities/equipment is effectively managed through preventative maintenance and work order systems and ensuring site continues to improve processes through performance excellence initiatives
Hours of work/work schedule/flextime: Exempt position working approximately 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, with flexibility to support project assignments and off shifts.
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in technical field, including but not limited to Engineering or Environmental and Safety.
Required Years and Area of Experience: Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a role in a manufacturing or distribution environment
Required Skills:
- Consistent history on improving processes and working on teams to influence others
- Project Management principals
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills:
- Experience leading ISO 14001 or similar preferred
- Distribution experience preferred
- Maintenance and performance excellence experience preferred
