Position Description

The Anoka County Public Health and Environmental Services Department has an immediate opening for a Senior Health Education Specialist, Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP). In this position you will support community members and partners by promoting health resources and improving systems related to population health. The Senior Health Education Specialist is responsible for improving the health of Anoka County by developing relationships in the community, and providing education on chronic disease prevention and general wellness to residents and community partners.

This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid, position. Interviews will take place the week of April 13th, 2026, for those selected to move forward in the hiring process. 

Pay & Benefits

  • Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 32: $64,480 to $90,230 ($31.00 to $43.38 per hour).

Work Location

  • This position will work at the Anoka County Government Center, located at 2100 3rd Ave, Anoka, MN 55303.

  • This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work, with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.

  • Expected work hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Senior Health Education Specialist.

  • Promote, maintain and improve individual and community health by assisting individuals and communities to adopt healthy behaviors.

  • Design and implement health education programs designed to increase awareness and knowledge for the improvement of health in the community.

  • Conduct assessments and surveys to determine health education needs.

  • Oversee health education programs and services.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and educational materials.

  • Keep current on changes and best practices in health education programs.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with agencies and community organizations.

  • Maintain database, mailing lists, telephone networks, and other information to facilitate the coordination of health education programs.

  • Make recommendations for developing plans and policies towards achieving health education objectives.

  • Speak to groups and provide education to promote preventative health practices.

  • Implement programing within the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) program.

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to the SHIP team as it relates to the focus area.

Qualifications and Requirements:
 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree and at least four years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience.

  • In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

  • Successfully pass driver’s license background check.

  • Must have valid driver's license and vehicle available for business use.
