Description

Allied Metals in Miami, Fl, is currently seeking a motivated Bilingual (English/Spanish) Yard Truck Operator to aid and contribute to the overall success of our team.  

Job Summary:

The responsibility of the Yard Truck Operator, you will play a crucial role in the efficient movement and management of shipping containers within a yard or terminal. Your responsibilities will include driving, weighing, parking, coordinating traffic, and ensuring the safe handling of containers. You’ll work closely with other drivers, office personnel, and logistics teams to maintain smooth operations.

Responsibilities:

1. Container Handling:                                                                                                                                                                                 

• Operate yard trucks (also known as mule trucks) to move 20’, 40’, and 53’ shipping containers.
• Safely drive, position, and park containers within designated areas.
• Coordinate with other drivers to ensure timely container movements.

2.   Weighing and Documentation:

• Accurately weigh containers using appropriate equipment.
• Record seal numbers and container identification for tracking purposes.
• Maintain detailed records of container movements.                                                                                                                              3. 

3. Driver Communication:

• Instruct outside drivers on where to drop off or park containers.
• Provide guidance on check-in procedures and loading processes.
• Coordinate pickups of loaded or empty containers in collaboration with the office.

4. Container Management:
Open, close, and seal containers as needed.

Take photographs of export containers for documentation.

Ensure containers are properly secured and sealed.

5. Maintenance and Communication:

• Wash containers to maintain cleanliness and appearance.
• Use radio communication to receive instructions from the office.
• Assist drivers in running axles and addressing any operational issues.

Qualifications· (CDL): You must hold a valid CDL. · 

Experience: Prior experience in container handling, truck driving, or logistics is preferred.· 

Attention to Detail: Accuracy in recording container numbers and seal information is essential.· 

Communication Skills: Effective communication with other drivers/office personnel is crucial.· 

Safety Awareness: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while operating yard trucks.· 

Physical Stamina: The role involves physical tasks such as opening/closing containers and washing them.
