Senior Financial Controller

<p>As a Senior Financial Controller (L2) you will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and efficiency. Your expertise in accounting, reporting, and tax compliance will help drive strategic decision-making while ensuring alignment with internal controls and regulatory standards. You will work cross-functionally with teams across the organization to optimize financial workflows, enhance reporting accuracy, and implement best practices. Additionally, you will lead and mentor a small accounting team, fostering a high-performance environment.</p><p></p><p>This role is based in Girona and reports directly to the Head of Finance.</p><p></p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul> <li>Oversee general ledger maintenance and ensure accuracy of financial records.</li> <li>Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes in compliance with ES and Lux GAAP.</li> <li>Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.</li> <li>Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes.</li> <li>Prepare and review statutory financial statements.</li> <li>Ensure timely and accurate internal financial reporting to management and stakeholders.</li> <li>Coordinate with auditors for annual audits and interim reviews.</li> <li>Oversee corporate tax, VAT, and other tax filings, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.</li> <li>Act as the main point of contact for tax authorities and external tax advisors.</li> <li>Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the business.</li> <li>Ensure proper cash flow management and optimize working capital.</li> <li>Supervise bank reconciliations and treasury transactions.</li> <li>Support in FX risk management and banking relationships.</li> <li>Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial integrity.</li> <li>Ensure compliance with internal audit requirements.</li> <li>Drive automation and efficiency improvements in financial processes.</li> <li>Work closely with FP&amp;A to ensure accurate financial planning and forecasting.</li> <li>Collaborate with legal and compliance on financial and regulatory matters.</li> <li>Support operational teams with financial insights related to accounting and tax.</li> </ul><p></p><p>Technical Skills: </p><p></p><ul> <li>Strong knowledge of ES and/or Lux GAAP.</li> <li>Experience with tax compliance (corporate tax, VAT, and regulatory reporting).</li> <li>Familiarity with consolidation, multi-entity structures, and intercompany transactions.</li> <li>Experience in audit coordination and working with external auditors.</li> <li>Proficiency in financial reporting tools and ERP systems (e.g., Netsuite, Odoo or similar).</li> </ul><p></p><p>Soft skills &amp; Competencies: </p><p></p><ul> <li>Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure financial accuracy.</li> <li>Excellent stakeholder management (working with auditors, tax advisors, and senior leadership).</li> <li>Ability to implement and improve internal controls and financial processes.</li> <li>Experience managing deadlines in fast-paced environments.</li> <li>Fluent in English; French is a plus.</li> </ul><p></p><p>Team leadership &amp; management </p><p></p><ul> <li>Lead, mentor, and oversee the work of two accountants.</li> <li>Ensure proper task allocation, training, and development of the accounting team.</li> <li>Review and validate monthly, quarterly and annual closing performed by the team.</li> <li>Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.</li> </ul><p></p><p>Nice to have: </p><p></p><ul> <li>Experience in a regulated financial services company.</li> <li>Knowledge of treasury and cash flow management.</li> <li>Some exposure to FP&amp;A (even though the focus is on accounting and reporting).</li> </ul><p></p><p><strong>Experience &amp; Background </strong></p><ul> <li>8+ years of experience in finance/accounting roles.</li> <li>3–5 years of Audit experience (Big 4 preferred) or strong exposure to audits in a corporate role.</li> <li>Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Accountant, or Head of Accounting in a financial services or regulated environment is a plus.</li> <li>Experience managing and mentoring a small accounting team (ideally 2+ accountants).</li> </ul><p></p><p><strong>Education &amp; Certifications </strong></p><ul><li>Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.</li></ul><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p><strong>Why Join Us:</strong></p><p></p><ul> <li>Join a culture that celebrates creativity and welcomes innovative, disruptive ideas, empowering you to make a real impact.</li> <li>Immerse yourself in a fast-paced, diverse workplace where you'll have the chance to collaborate and learn from specialists across various fields, fostering personal and professional growth.</li> <li>Embrace automation and seamless tech integration in your workflows, while our platform boosts operations through tech le
