Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. The Advanced Process Engineering team in Ave Maria, Florida (AMIE) is responsible for designing and building custom semi-automation equipment used in the Final Assembly of electro-mechanical Medical Devices at AMIE. We are searching for an Intern pursuing an Electrical,  Computer, or Controls Engineering degree to support the Process Engineering team at AMIE. The successful candidate will design and develop electrical schematics; program and debug controls and vision systems; and develop and document Engineering Studies (Design Experiments and machine Trials) with guidance from the engineering staff. The individual will be detail oriented in the execution and documentation of their work. The individual will be provided with access to a full process automation lab including 3D printers and a prototype machine shop to fully develop and implement their solutions.  The individual will also work within the requirements of their tasks to deliver results and communicate issues in a timely and accurate manner.)

 

This internship will run from May 2025 – August 2025. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Ave Maria, FL facility.

 

Main Objective:

To provide the intern with experience applying their Engineering Degree in a Medical Device manufacturing environment.  There are several projects in the AMIE Advanced Engineering team for electrical design, assembly, and programming of new equipment and controls tuning of existing equipment that directly relate to the Electrical Engineering degree.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Custom assembly fixture development. 
  • Custom RFID Tag Programming Station development. 
  • Custom Adhesive Applicator development. 


Education and Experience:

Progress towards a college degree in a related field required, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Controls Engineering. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel. 
  • Basic Knowledge of Statistics.
  • Basic Knowledge of Electrical panel wiring, software programming.

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
