We seek:

In the Faculty IV: School of Science and Technology, Civil Engineering/Chair of Geotechnical Engineering,, we are looking for a researcher  as of the as soon as possible  at the following conditions:

  • 100% = 39,83 hours  
  • Pay grade 13  TV-L
  • limited  for a period of 3 years with the option of extension

Your tasks:

The Chair of Geotechnical Engineering focuses on the implementation of probabilistic methods and reliability-based design and evaluation strategies for the systematic assessment of uncertainties in the description of subsoil behavior in the research area "Safety and Reliability of Geotechnical Structures." To strengthen this area, we are seeking a motivated and dedicated individual (doctoral student or postdoc ) for the following tasks:

  • Self-determined research in this field with the aim of further scientific qualification
  • Processing of research projects, supporting the professorship in the conception of new research projects, also with an interdisciplinary focus, as well as participation in the application process
  • Preparation and publication of scientific papers, presentations at specialist conferences
  • Conducting courses in the degree programs Civil Engineering (B.Sc./M.Sc.) and Engineering of Hydroenvironmental Extremes (M.Sc., English-taught)
  • Participation in administrative tasks of the chair

The teaching obligation is 4 semester hours per week.

Your profile:

 

  • Above-average academic university degree (Master or equivalent) in civil engineering or in a discipline relevant to the above-mentioned research focus
  • Sound knowledge of geotechnics or willingness to undertake intensive training if you have a non-specialist background
  • Strong mathematical understanding
  • Experience in the application of probabilistic methods and numerical modeling is an advantage
  • Programming skills in Python or comparable desirable
  • Very good written and spoken English skills
  • Curiosity and enjoyment of scientific work
  • High willingness to learn and perform, sense of responsibility and independent working style
