The Role

We're seeking a Senior Product Designer who embraces AI-augmented design workflows to shape the future of computational engineering. You'll leverage cutting-edge AI tools to accelerate design iterations while creating intuitive interfaces that make complex HPC workflows accessible to thousands of engineers. This role requires mastery of both traditional design craft and emerging AI-powered design methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

AI-Augmented Design Leadership

• Pioneer AI-driven design workflows using tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Midjourney, and GitHub Copilot

• Leverage AI for rapid prototyping, user research synthesis, and design system generation

• Build custom AI workflows for design tasks (component generation, accessibility testing, copy optimization)

• Establish best practices for AI tool integration within the design team

• Use AI to analyze user behavior patterns and generate data-driven design recommendations

Strategic Design Ownership

• Own end-to-end design for major product initiatives impacting $10M+ in revenue

• Lead design strategy for AI-powered features (intelligent job optimization, predictive resource allocation)

• Create scalable design systems that adapt to diverse computational workloads

• Drive design decisions that reduce customer time-to-insight by 50%+

Advanced User Research & Analytics

• Use AI tools to analyze thousands of user sessions and identify workflow bottlenecks

• Implement ML-powered user research methodologies for pattern recognition

• Create predictive models for user needs based on industry and use case

• Leverage LLMs to synthesize qualitative feedback from multiple channels

Technical Design Innovation

• Design AI-assisted interfaces for automated simulation setup and optimization

• Create intelligent dashboards that surface anomalies in petabytes of simulation data

• Develop conversational UI patterns for natural language HPC job submission

• Design ML-powered recommendation systems for resource allocation

Cross-functional Leadership

• Partner with ML engineers to design AI-native product features

• Collaborate with engineering on technical feasibility of AI-augmented interfaces

• Lead design reviews and establish quality standards for the team

Required Qualifications

Experience

• 7+ years of product design experience, with 5+ years in enterprise B2B software

• Demonstrated expertise using AI tools in production design workflows

• Track record of shipping AI-powered features or intelligent user interfaces

• Experience leading design for products with $5M+ revenue impact

• Portfolio showing sophisticated design systems and complex technical workflows

AI & Technical Skills

• AI Design Tools: Advanced proficiency with ChatGPT/Claude for design tasks, Midjourney/DALL-E for visual design, GitHub Copilot for prototyping

• AI Workflows: Experience building custom GPTs, prompt engineering for design tasks, AI-powered user research analysis

• Traditional Tools: Expert-level Figma with advanced prototyping, design tokens, and API usage

• Technical Skills: Comfortable with HTML/CSS/JS for rapid prototyping, experience with data visualization libraries (D3.js, Plotly)

Domain Knowledge

• Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts and their application to user interfaces

• Experience designing for technical users (engineers, developers, data scientists)

• Familiarity with cloud computing and distributed systems

• Understanding of enterprise software requirements at scale

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with computational workflows (CAE, CFD, molecular dynamics, semiconductor design)
