About the role
The Highlights:
The Special Programs Coordinator, as part of the OFA Operations team, is responsible for executing support processes for application processing, authorization review and reconciliation of major federal and private loan programs in support of special student populations and programs within Financial Aid Operations. This position reports to the Director of Operations and will assist in maintaining Operations procedures for processing various queries and reports within OFA programs. The Coordinator will in analyze data, formulate reports, identify problems and solutions and develop action steps within processing for special program improvement. Oversee, plan and coordinate complex operational and administrative assignments with Director of Operations for special projects within and/or across operating units. Participates and actively schedules meetings to resolve issues or to plan for new programs.
What You'll Do:
- Coordinates efforts within OFA for support processing of special student populations or other designated programs that require additional assistance and training to facilitate financial aid awarding and eligibility. Works closely with other campus departments to assist in student aid, scholarship, and discount processing for specific groups/cohorts.
- Works with closely with Operations teams and Director to review and resolve student eligibility issues (primarily for special student populations). Communicates with student and possible outside parties to resolve student eligibility issues and verification. Assists with responding to student emails and case management for FA Operations and cross teams in OFA. Researches, resolves and effectively communicates responses to students in (primarily within special populations).
- Awards students who are not able to be packaged by the batch packaging system.
- Oversees, plans and coordinates complex operational and administrative assignments and special projects within and/or across operating units; gathers, organizes, and analyzes information, and develops and prepares recommendations related to special student cohorts. Participates in meetings to resolve issues or to plan for new programs. Communicates deadlines to partners in a timely manner. Advises and supports Enrollment Management units and staff on processing, policies, needed student support, and training. Provides guidance, troubleshooting and problem solving including researching financial aid information as necessary across university and exterior entities to respond to and address specific inquiries.
- Assists with the records management of Enrollment Services documents including the imaging and indexing of records.
- Participates in the administration of federal, state, institutional and private aid.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Experience in a Financial Aid setting required, higher education preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in student aid administration preferred.
- Familiarity with student eligibility, verification, and other student aid programs preferred.
- Capacity to embrace change and willingness to be flexible in work hours.
- Capacity to work independently, effectively, and under pressure during peak processing.
- Demonstrated communication skills, analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Capacity of spend periods of time either sitting or standing.
- Capacity to spend extensive time viewing monitors.
