You Will:
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be a lead contributor to the software that drives the behavior of the Robotic Assisted Surgery platform. You will focus on the design, development, and testing of software that drives the behavior of surgical stapling and bipolar electrosurgical vessel sealing instruments. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
Design and develop software in Simulink and C++ that enables surgeons and operating-room staff to control Hugo
Develop requirements with a cross-functional team to define the behavior of Hugo’s software
Triage defects, develop software unit tests, and review the testing team’s software verification protocols.
Analyze the software for failure modes and develop solutions that mitigate risk.
Contribute updates to your team’s software documentation and architecture.
Improve the quality of your team’s software through design reviews, and ensure your work complies with the procedures of the organization’s quality management system.
Join an Agile Scrum team that collaboratively plans sprints, improves the quality of the team's backlog of tickets, and defines and completes tasks.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree with 7 years of relevant experience
Or advanced degree with 5 years of relevant experience.
Nice to Have
Medical Device Experience
Knowledge of biomedical engineering
Experience developing software for commercial products, preferably in regulated industries
Experience with medical product development is highly desired, including knowledge of regulatory processes such as IEC 62304, safety considerations, and hands-on experience with medical devices and surgical instruments
Software Engineering Experience
Strong knowledge of computer science, including how embedded systems, operating systems, and compilation work
Experience developing software in C/C++, including experience with object-oriented and functional programming
Experience developing software in Simulink, including experience with Stateflow and Simulink Coder
Experience using common software development tools on Linux, including the Bash shell, build automation (CMake preferred), code coverage, unit testing, static analysis, debugging, and source control (Git preferred)
Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail, with ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to build consensus and establish common goals
Experience working with diverse teams across the globe
