Job Description Summary
The role of the Network Voice Technician is to manage and performance-tune systems across the organization to ensure high levels of network quality, availability, and security.This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links.
This individual will analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.

Job Description
Operational Management - 70%:
- Participate in the implementation and support of the networking, wireless, and security infrastructure.
- Participate I the support of the VoIP telephony system.
- Plan, recommend and design the network and associated equipment in relation to the requirements of Weld County.
- Research, collaborate and make architectural, security, and functional recommendations to leadership.
- Coordinate with the hardware and software suppliers, ISPβs and other vendors to implement, upgrade, support and monitor systems and technologies.
- Troubleshoot any kind of hardware and software problems and make sure that there is no problem in accessing any resource for the users.
- Maintain remote monitoring systems and keep a track of the use of resources provide to the employees and the end users.
- Sets authentication and authorization and restricts users from accessing important and vital information available.
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
- Manage operational networking and telecommunication administrator duties, prioritize, and respond to support tickets as appropriate.
- Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software and security problems on network, firewall and telecommunication devices. Escalate incidents as necessary.
- Practice asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
- Assist in the budget planning for network, recommend proper software and hardware such as routers, switches, access points, security appliances.
- Support application development teams throughout project lifecycles.
- Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.
- Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
- Create required reports in response to management and business user needs.
- Create baseline reports and become familiar with irregularities in security, capacity, and data patterns.
- Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use.
- Follow change control, incident response, and testing processes for modifications to systems and software.
- Coordinate and collaborate with System Administrators, business application, and database administration function to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of systems to meet business demands.
- Perform system OS hardening, standard configuration management, and maintenance tasks for supported systems.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Strategy & Planning - 30%:
- Participate in and support capacity planning and development of long-term strategic goals for enterprise systems.
- Collaborate with executive management to assess near and long-term networking, VoIP, and security needs.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to networking, VoIP, and security configurations, processes, and service records.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for server administration, usage, security, and disaster recovery.

Required Qualifications
Required Education
- Bachelor's Degree MIS or computer science or 4 years equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education
- Master's Degree MIS or computer science
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of networking, switch / route including Cisco branded solutions.
- Advanced knowledge of wireless including Cisco branded solutions.
