Job Description Summary

The Research Specialist B/C will be part of a neuroscience lab using rodent animal models. Our lab investigates the intersection of neuroscience and anesthesia to answer questions on how specific neural pathways and processes influence loss of consciousness and reawakening from unconscious states. The role will be responsible for conducting and documenting experiments involving animals and animal tissue, including behavioral assays, help to maintain the lab and mouse colony, and perform basic analyses of collected data. Other duties include animal tissue harvest, preservation, staining, and imaging, in addition to performing various biochemical assays.

Job Description

The Research Specialist B will assist senior level researchers on various supervised research projects within the lab. The Research Specialist B will place orders for supplies, help maintain inventory and place lab equipment in their designated areas at the end of the day. They will gather data from experiments, complete data entry and analyze data in collaboration with Principal Investigator - with the intent of presenting research results in laboratory meetings.

In addition to above, the Research Specialist C plans and conducts complex experiments to meet research project objectives. Design and carry out experiments independently. Manage general supplies for the lab and maintain records of experiments.  Carry out trouble-shooting on experiments.

This position is contingent upon grant funding.

Qualifications

Research Specialist B

  • Bachelor of Science and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Research Specialist C

  • Bachelor of Science and 3 to 4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
