Assistant News Director/ Anchor

KION in the beautiful Monterey / Salians market is seeking an experienced anchor / assistant news director to lead the newsroom and anchor our evening newscasts. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent on-air and social media skills, leadership qualities in a newsroom environment, be willing to mentor the MMJ’s and producers, be detail-oriented and help the news director carryout the overall vision of the newscast. Candidates must be team players and work well in a fast-paced newsroom. 3-5 years of experience anchoring and producing a newscast is preferred. Other duties include:

 

• Oversee evening newscasts, approve scripts of producers and MMJ’s.

 

• Aggressively seek out and lead breaking news and severe weather coverage.

 

• Working with managing editor and assignment editors on assigning targeted special reports weekly.

 

• Help oversee quality on web.

 

• Work closely with news director to carry out news philosophy and direction.

 

• Review daily newscasts to ensure quality control and brand compliancy.

 

The candidate must pass a drug test and a background check as well as be able to provide proof of right to work in the U.S.

 

Pay range for this role is: $100,000 to $110,000 depending on experience.
