Position Description

At a Glance 

 

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a PMO Manager (New Product Development) to join the Electrical Wiring Systems (EWS) team in Syracuse, NY. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Engineering for EWS.

 

The PMO Manager will be responsible for leading the Project Management Office (PMO), which supports new product development (NPD) initiatives for the Wiring Device (WDS) business. This role ensures the successful planning, execution, and delivery of NPD projects by implementing standardized project management practices, optimizing resource allocation, and aligning project execution with strategic business goals.

 

What Will You Do?

 

Project Portfolio & Program Management:

  • Oversee the full NPD project portfolio, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Track and report portfolio performance metrics, including schedule, costs, and risks.
  • Act as Program Manager for large strategic projects.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage and mentor a team of project managers; foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, technology partners, application /certification testing, manufacturing, quality, and marketing.

Risk & Issue Management:

  • Proactively identify risks across the portfolio and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Escalate and resolve project issues and resource conflicts in a timely manner.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as the central point of communication for project status across departments and leadership.
  • Facilitate stage-gate reviews.

Governance & Methodology:

  • Evolve and maintain standardized project management processes (Stage-Gate, ISO9001, Agile Methodology)
  • Govern processes for project intake, prioritization, approval, and stage reviews.

Qualifications

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or equivalent technical field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Specific experience may serve to offset education.

Experience:  

  • 10+ years of managing new product development projects.
  • 5+ years in Electrical Manufacturing or related industry (preferred).
  • 5+ years of people management (project managers).

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Experience with product development in regulated or standards-driven environment (i.e., UL, CSA, ISO).
  • Experience with product lifecycle from concept to launch to end-of life.
  • Experience integrating Agile practices into traditional Stage-Gate NPD processes.
  • Experience with Eco-Design processes.
  • Experience with ISO9001.
  • Must have broad understanding of Engineering principals, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment. Promotes an environment that is encourages cohesiveness and fosters trust and open communication with team, peers and all business partners.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.
  • Must have ability to use tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, or similar software.
  • Must have ability to travel both internationally and domestically approximately 10-15%.

Pay Range: $132,700 - $160,800/Annually
