Senior Scientist, Systems Biology Toxicologist
The Non-Clinical Drug Safety (NDS) organization of our company's Research Laboratories is currently seeking a Senior Genomics Scientist within Investigative Toxicology at the West Point, PA site.
The scientist will drive the development and application of cutting-edge genetics and genomics assays towards the identification and mechanistic de-risking of program liabilities.
Responsibilities include:
Spearheading the development and automation of laboratory protocols for advanced genetics/genomics/epigenetics capabilities (eg: spatial RNA-seq, DRUG-seq, etc)
Implementing data processing and analytical pipelines for developed capabilities, as well as analyzing and interpreting associated biological findings
Applying developed capabilities for program risk assessment and mechanistic investigations into toxicologic findings
Working closely with laboratory scientists and analysts across toxicology disciplines to integrate ‘omics capabilities into multi-modal assessments and prediction algorithms (eg: combining spatial ‘omics with digital histopathology)
Spearheading both internal and peer-reviewed publications and presentations
Position Qualifications:
Education Minimum Requirement:
Ph.D. in toxicology, genetics/genomics, bioinformatics or related discipline
Master's (with 4+ years) or
Bachelor's (with 8+ years) in toxicology, genetics/genomics, bioinformatics or related discipline and relevant industry experience
Required Experience and Skills:
Prior laboratory experience with advanced next generation sequencing (NGS) applications (eg: scRNA-seq, spatial sequencing, etc)
Prior experience with processing and analysis of diverse NGS datasets via command line interface and mathematical programing software (R/Python)
Strong understanding of mammalian biology, genetics, genomics and epigenetics
Passion for development of novel technologies and application to drug development
Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills including ability to distill and communicate complex genomics concepts and results to scientists from diverse disciplines
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Relevant industry experience, especially in toxicology
Experience with biochemical assay automation and robotics
Experience with high performance and cloud-based computing
