About the role

Application of clinical knowledge and experience to develop and support the infrastructure necessary for Quality Management Services activities within Mayo Clinic. The Quality Specialist supports the medical center in analyzing current practice patterns, identifying areas for improvement and developing methods to help implement and evaluate improvement changes. The Quality Specialist serves as a resource and provides system support to department/divisions and institutional staff in the areas of practice analysis and improvement. The Quality Specialist provides facilitation, data collection and reporting of quality improvement activities. The Specialist serves as a resource for education and training regarding quality improvement, accreditation standards, internal process improvements, and external regulatory requirements (i.e. JCAHO, CMS, ICSI, etc.)

*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this role before being eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic. 

**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. 

To be considered for the Quality Specialist role, you must have one of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science from an accredited institution, and two years of relevant laboratory experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS, and two years of relevant laboratory experience required. 
  • Bachelor's degree, and two years of relevant laboratory experience required. 

*A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. 

 

Additional Qualifications

  • You must include a cover letter and a resume to be considered for this position.
  • DLMP/MCS employees that have been in their current lab/position for less than 2 years must attach an early release approval from their supervisor. 
  • Non-DLMP internal applicants that have been in their current department/position for less than 1 year must attach early release approval from supervisor. 
  • Internal applicants must attach their three most recent performance appraisals to be considered for this position.
  • You must include a cover letter, resume, and internal applicants must attach their three most recent performance appraisals to be considered for 
  • Experience in basic clinical laboratory quality management concepts and regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, efficient, and ability to exercise strong decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Experience with data collection, organization, analysis and delivery of information.
