What We’re Looking For…

An exciting new opportunity as arisen for a Data Protection Lead, Associate Director. Reporting to the General Counsel, Head of the Legal team, this role will include advising on our compliance with GDPR and local data protection laws, monitoring our adherence to GDPR standards and acting as a point of contact with supervisory authorities and data subjects. This role is also responsible for creating policies that enforce compliance with legislation and to deliver relevant training to our people to increase awareness of data protection.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate the company’s data processing activities
  • Provide advice and instructions on how to conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
  • Monitor data management procedures and compliance within the company
  • Ensure privacy by design at all levels
  • Maintain records of all data processing operations
  • Manage all queries and requests from data subjects within legal timeframes
  • Liaise with other organisations that process data on our behalf
  • Own data protection policies and supporting procedures
  • Perform audits and determine whether we need to alter our procedures to comply with regulations
  • Oversee reporting privacy breaches and business response
  • Provide training on GDPR compliance for employees
  • Implement changes within the business as required by law
  • Comply with the Risk and Compliance frameworks, policies and procedures associated with the role.

Requirements

  • Solicitor or legal professional with 2/3 years PQE with experience of GDPR or compliance
  • Solid knowledge of GDPR and national data protection laws
  • Understanding of the financial services industry and the nature of its data processing activities
  • Ability to perform GDPR related audits on our current procedures
  • Be confident to facilitate GDPR compliance by drafting transparent data protection policies, systems and procedures
  • Excellent confident and proactive communicator.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills, organisational skills & attention to detail.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Inquisitive, self-starter who can show initiative as well as work as part of a team.
  • This is a role with multiple deliverables operating to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment while still ensuring quality and accuracy. Ability to self motivate, work independently, under pressure and manage/prioritise own workload is critical.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop good working relationships across the business and willingness to individually challenge collective thinking.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
