About the role

The Food Safety Technician is a food safety and quality professional who helps ensure that manufacturing operations consistently meet established food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. This position performs routine quality inspections, verifies compliance with company and regulatory standards, and assists with issue resolution. The role is essential to protecting product quality, supporting regulatory compliance, and promoting a safe and effective food manufacturing operation. 

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate incoming raw materials, products during processing, and completed products to confirm adherence to established food safety and quality requirements.
  • Carry out environmental monitoring activities, allergen testing, sanitation checks, and verification of metal detection equipment.
  • Record inspection and testing results accurately and communicate any discrepancies, deviations, or non-conforming conditions to FSQA management.
  • Assist with pre-operational inspections and follow up to ensure identified corrective measures have been properly completed.
  • Provide support during internal and external audits by organizing required records, supplying documentation, and assisting with facility walkthroughs.
  • Work closely with Production, Sanitation, and Maintenance personnel to investigate and address food safety and quality concerns.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Take part in Behavior Observation Surveys, Risk Prediction activities, and 5S audits as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of fundamental food safety requirements, quality control practices, and applicable regulatory expectations preferred
  • Knowledge of HACCP and GMP principles, along with familiarity with USDA, FDA, and SQF requirements preferred
  • Strong ability to identify details, recognize potential issues, and consistently follow established procedures.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to maintain thorough and accurate records.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with limited supervision while also contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Approximately 1–3 years of experience in food manufacturing, quality assurance, or a comparable environment preferred
  • Previous experience working within a regulated food production facility is strongly preferred

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Position is based within a food manufacturing facility and will involve regular exposure to cold temperatures, moisture, and elevated noise levels.
  • Requires the ability to remain on one's feet for prolonged periods and perform repetitive physical activities.
  • Must be capable of lifting items weighing up to 30 pounds and consistently using the personal protective equipment required for the work area.
  • Schedule flexibility may be necessary, including the ability to work weekends and holidays when business needs require.
