The Operations Lead Specialist – MFS Account Opening performs high level specialized operational fund account opening activities in support of the firm’s business lines. S/he is a subject matter specialist typically dealing with moderately complex issues as they relate to his/her area of focus. These activities include fund account document review and execution, communication with fund companies, processing and recording, reporting and acknowledgement and reconciliation and review of workflow within the team.
The Mutual Funds Lead Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely fund account openings, confirmation of the accounts, status updates and workflow management within the team on US and Offshore mutual funds. The Lead Specialist will be part of a team assigned to analyze, report and execute mutual fund account openings and related fund account projects. As well as lead the team by reviewing volumes, workflows and procedures and report to the Supervisor and Manager with any recommendations and escalation items. The Lead Specialist will present the subject matter on projects and meetings.
Responsibilities
Client Service
- Provide superior client service to all internal clients who have mutual funds requests and external clients who invest in open ended mutual funds
- Ensure timely response to internal and external requests.
- Follow up on open inquiries and resolve outstanding inquiries.
Risk Management
- Help to identify and document errors in mutual fund account openings in an effort to reduce exposure.
- Interact with other BBH departments on resolution of issues pertaining to fund accounts.
- Communicate professionally and constructively to effectively resolve issues in order to minimize risk and exposure.
- Manage associated fund account projects
- Assist with defining procedures and controls
Other
- Gain efficiencies to improve individual productivity.
- Contribute to Division or Firm process improvement activities.
- Assist in the development and production of monthly mutual fund services management reporting.
- Assist team members with day to day activities when needed/ providing backup.
Processing
- Prepare and execute required fund documentation
- Investigate and respond to inquiries related to fund account openings
- Correctly reflect fund accounts on BBH systems
- Maintain and review daily department reports pertaining to mutual fund account openings
Education and Qualifications
- BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of Operations and of Global Custody experience.
- Proven knowledge of one or more product area within Operations and its process.
- Ability to perform technical responsibilities of the job with a high level of competence.
- Aptitude for thorough and timely research, analysis and resolution of a problem.
- Ability to communicate professionally through effective verbal and written skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task and effectively juggle assignments.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Proactive self-starter who is detail and goal oriented
Salary Range
60,000 – 75,000
BBH’s compensation program includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, and profit-sharing.
