Financial Data Analyst – Data Engineer Overview

This role is responsible for the development of data delivery solutions that support operational data reporting, including datasets, extracts, reports, and dashboards. This role will be responsible for proactively developing, testing, and maintaining critical data pipelines and architectures across multiple technical environments within various business functions in support of GEICO’s operational data reporting. As a member of an agile team, the incumbent assists with testing, validation, user acceptance testing, deployment, and post-implementation support. This includes writing code that builds datasets, metrics, and data needed for our business partners.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a strong foundation in modern data architecture concepts like, data warehouse, data mart, data lake, data lakehouse, data mesh, etc.

  • Lead data model design and architect data delivery solutions for complex projects

  • Advise on data delivery technologies and strategies

  • Proficiently execute all phases of the development of automated data delivery processes for reporting and dashboards using ETL/ELT tools such as dbt, Azure Data Factory, SSIS, etc.

  • Apply expertise in SQL to write, debug and optimize queries and data pipelines

  • Migrate existing SAS solutions to technologies used widely at GEICO, such as dbt and Power BI

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop and implement data models and architectures to support client projects and initiatives

  • Perform and automate daily maintenance processes

  • Assist with data and database migrations, testing, and validation

  • Define development standards and best practices

  • Promote a culture of continuous refinement of capabilities and processes

  • Assist with project and time management, including estimates and status reporting

  • Conduct root cause analysis and advanced performance tuning functions

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, problem solving, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are required

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other team members as needed

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment

  • Must be able to multi-task

  • Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information

  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

  • Must have the following experience:

    • Relevant work experience of 7+ years (preferred)

    • Hybrid work requirement: location specific

Location: This position is a hybrid role. It is required to be on-site 3 days per week at one of the following office locations: Chevy Chase, MD, Chicago, IL, New York, NY.


 

Annual Salary

$104,550.00 - $172,200.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
