Position Summary

Deloitte Risk & Financial Advisory Analyst – Mergers and Acquisitions

 

Do you have your finger on the pulse of the vast, fast paced, and ever-changing deal environment? Have a passion for current trends in accounting and finance? As an Analyst in the M&A group at Deloitte, you’ll be part of a national team that is the recognized marketplace leader among large professional services firms in providing merger, acquisition, and divestiture services to corporate strategic buyers and private equity investors.  You will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside leading accounting and finance leaders in addressing the full range of deal execution issues, including due diligence and accounting structuring, merger integration and post transaction considerations. Our multi-disciplinary approach combines M&A, industry and other function specialists to provide fact-based answers and objective feedback geared to minimizing risk and increasing returns.

 

Work you’ll do

As an Analyst, you will leverage your accounting experience to research and work with M&A teams on a broad spectrum of financial analyses and technical accounting matters including complex issues in accounting for business combinations, consolidations, share-based compensation, revenue recognition, leases, intangibles and financial instruments.  In addition, you will have the opportunity to directly deliver highly valued service to clients through working on a diverse array of M&A engagements.

 

Specific areas of work could include:

  • Demonstrate an ability to identify and evaluate business, industry, financial, and accounting-related risks in connection with the transaction
  • Assist in identifying potential “deal breakers”, including industry, country, and deal-specific risks and opportunities
  • Evaluate a company’s historical and projected earnings and cash flows; hidden contingencies, commitments, and exposures; as well as quality of assets and internal control structure
  • Review and comment on financial and accounting considerations in investment models, bank finance agreements and public debt offering documents
  • Assist in structuring purchase price adjustment mechanisms and other relevant accounting and financial considerations in purchase agreements
  • Identify integration and post-transaction transition issues
  • Assist with divestiture strategy, planning, and execution

  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills essential to interacting with clients and teams
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects/assignments/ responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills in support of both innovative and operational enhancement opportunities
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate across Deloitte team members and client stakeholders
  • Ability to identify, learn, understand, and implement new concepts, frameworks and emerging technologies
  • Ability to manage own personal and professional development; seek opportunities for professional growth and expansion of consulting skills and experience 
  • A strong understanding of Windows Based systems and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

 

Qualifications

 

Required:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degrees with a concentration in Accounting or related business degree
  • Strong academic track record with extracurricular activities (cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • Our current work environment is a hybrid approach which means
    • You should reside within a commutable distance of your assigned office with the ability to commute daily, if required
    • You can expect to be co-located on average 30-50% a week with variations based on types of work/projects and client locations
